The houses of L’Île-Perrot

L’Île-Perrot was largely built out in the 1960s and 1970s, with brick bungalows, split-levels and cottages on suburban lots, plus a few waterfront sectors along Lac Saint-Louis and the Ottawa River.

These houses have a closed floor plan, a single bathroom often original, a full-height basement and a 100-amp electrical service. The projects that keep coming back: opening the kitchen to the living room, redoing the bathroom, finishing the basement to add a bedroom or a second bathroom, and replacing the old patio with a cedar deck.

  • Bearing walls

In a bungalow, the wall between kitchen and living room often carries the roof. We open it with a calculated beam, not by guesswork.

  • Original electrical

A 100 A panel and period circuits are not always enough for a modern kitchen or a heated floor. We have the panel assessed at the visit.

  • First-generation French drain

Drains laid fifty years ago are often clogged. Before finishing a basement, we check, and replace if needed.

Questions from L’Île-Perrot

Do you also serve Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot and Terrasse-Vaudreuil?

Yes, the whole island. Each municipality has its own planning department, and we deal with the right one.

How much does opening a bearing wall in a bungalow cost?

It depends on the span and the load. The engineer’s calculation, beam, posts and finishing are part of the kitchen quote; we give you the number after the visit.

Do you come to L’Île-Perrot for a free visit?

Yes, we cross the Highway 20 bridge from Vaudreuil-Dorion in ten minutes.
